| About | Michael Peter Pimentel, born on October 19, 1958, in San Jose, California, passed away on October 21, 2025, at the age of 67. Michael lived most of his life in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and spent 10 years residing in Fairhaven. He was the beloved son of Nancy (Cassidy) Pimentel and the late Carl Pimentel. Michael was a graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1976. He dedicated 26 years of his career to serving as a New Bedford firefighter, retiring in 2020. Prior to the fire department, he worked as a correctional officer at the Bristol County House of Correction. He was best known for managing the popular New Bedford nightclub Smugglers Den at Billy Woods Wharf. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Jacqueline “Jackie” (Cardoza) Pimentel, his son Armand Pimentel and his wife Michaela, and his daughter Amanda Pimentel. Michael was a proud grandfather to Kason, Aubrianna, Paisley, Kennedy, and Aires, and he will be missed dearly by many nieces and nephews. He is also remembered by his brother, Kurt Pimentel, and his wife Pamela, along with his best friend of over 60 years, Arnold “Skip” Perry, and his wife Kim. Skip was by Michael’s side through every high and low, standing with him right up until the very end. He was also preceded by his late sister, Kara Lee Pimentel, who welcomed him into eternal peace. In his personal life, Michael was an avid skier, classic rock enthusiast, and overall handyman. He enjoyed playing his guitar and riding dirt bikes in his younger years in the South End. He was originally a member of George's Gym and the YMCA in his later years. Mike was dedicated to working out at the gym, his nutrition and overall physical fitness. Above all, Michael was a loving father and husband. He was an incredibly engaged, present, and caring man with a huge heart of gold. He took care of his family with great pride and unwavering devotion. Michael will be remembered for his dedication to his family and community, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 2nd from 2:00-4:00 pm with a Funeral Service beginning at 4:00 pm in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. A Celebration of Michael’s Life will follow - the location and time is TBD. Updates will be sent when a venue is solidified. |
