About | Susan L Gracie passed away unexpectedly on June 29, 2022 at the age of 63. She was born in New Bedford, MA on July 25, 1958 and lived there her entire life. Sue was the daughter of Marjorie Denault and the late Irving (Larry) Denault of New Bedford. She cared so deeply for her mom and took joy in helping her live an independent life. She treated her to special trips around town, especially to enjoy her favorite chow mein sandwich when the craving hit. She is survived by her husband Russell A Gracie Jr, recently celebrating 44 years of marriage. She was a loyal, loving and devoted wife, always taking care of everything. They did everything together and loved taking long rides to the Cape and spontaneous casino trips. The love they share is so deep and so strong. She leaves behind her three sons, Joshua A and his wife Susana of Rehoboth, MA, Adam J and his wife Rebecca of New Bedford, Russell A III and his wife Elizabeth of Acushnet, MA, and her daughter Brianne N Bento and her husband Frank of Acushnet. She was the most loving, caring and strong mother who always put her kids first. She was always only a phone call away when something great happened, or if they needed an ear to listen. They could always count on her no matter the hour of the day or night. She was more than a mom to them all, but a best friend. She adored her 13 grandchildren, Kelynn, Joshua Jr, Aiden, Adrian, Savannah, Caleb, Morgan, Charlotte, Hailey, Weston, Gracie, Colton, and Olivia. She was the most loving and patient Grammie, always spending time with all of the grandkids and making them each feel special. She loved being silly and having fun with them whether it was bringing them silly gag gifts, playing games or anything that would make them laugh and smile. She took every kiss, hug and snuggle she could get, and the grandkids gravitated to her. Sue had a strong circle of siblings. She leaves behind two brothers, Larry and his wife Lynn of New Bedford, Paul and his wife Donna of New Bedford, a sister Janice Petitpas and her husband Paul of Fairhaven and a sister in law, Kathleen Gracie. She was often surrounded by her many nieces, nephews and cousins that loved her deeply. Sue had a special love for her girlfriends, some that have been lifelong. Always chatting on the phone with one of them, keeping up on life, sharing the latest family news, she was always there to talk and listen. They often got together for girls' nights, which she truly enjoyed. She lived for her family and friends. She glowed at family gatherings, capturing all the best moments on camera. She loved making her famous rice pudding and cream cheese brownies, which no one could resist. She took joy and relaxation while she would crochet beautiful, special and personalized blankets for all of her loved ones and more. Sue made an impact on everyone she met, leaving wonderful memories behind. She will be greatly missed beyond words and the void is felt all around. Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2022 at 10:00AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth followed by a burial in Acushnet Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. To leave a note of condolence: www.waring-sullivan .com |
