About	Raymond N. Martin, age 78, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital. Born in Asheville, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Flora (Desrosiers) Martin. Ray spent many summers at the Highfield Theatre in Falmouth, and winter months at the Trinity Playhouse in Providence, RI with his friends Gene Deslandes, Gene Athaide, Kay Alden and Francis Caravana. He graduated from Fairhaven High School, class of 1955, and New Bedford Textile and Technology School, class of 1959. He received a Master’s Degree from Cornell University and Bridgewater State University. He also attended the University of Vermont and Potsdam University in New York. He was a teacher at Normandin Middle School and New Bedford High School for 38 years until his retirement. Ray leaves his twin brother: Robert A. Martin and his wife Georgette of Acushnet, a niece: Michelle Martin and her daughter Halla of St Cloud, FL, three nephews: Christopher Martin and his wife Cathleen and their four children Matthew, Elizabeth, Daniel and Caroline of Potomac, MD, Michael Stamo of New Bedford and Bruce Stamo of FL. He was brother of the late Lillian Stamo. His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 9AM from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10AM in St. Mary’s Church, 440 Main Street, Fairhaven. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5PM to 8PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his honor may be made to Fort Taber/Fort Rodman Military Museum, 1000C S Rodney French Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02744.
