About	FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — William "Bill" D. Savage, of Fort Lauderdale, Fl., passed away January 29th, 2010, at Holy Cross Hospital after a brief illness at the age of 79. FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — William "Bill" D. Savage, of Fort Lauderdale, Fl., passed away January 29th, 2010, at Holy Cross Hospital after a brief illness at the age of 79. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lois (Morse); 3 daughters, Gayle (Richard) Rossi of Vero Beach, Fl., Dawn (Michael) Ashley of Westmore, VT., and Betty (Jack) Costa of Acushnet, Mass. Also survived by a niece, Linda (Russell) Whynot; 6 grandchildren, Alexandra and Victoria Rossi, Myles, Shawn and Amber Devaney, Thomas Costa; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents James and Ethel (Heaton) Savage and sister Mildred Bettencourt of New Bedford, Mass. Bill graduated from New Bedford High School in 1948 and received his Bachelor's degree from Southeastern Massachusetts University. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, he continued his education at Bridgewater State College where he earned his Master's degree in education. He taught at Roosevelt Junior High and later at New Bedford High School in the Guidance Dept., and at The Greater New Bedford Vocational School after school program. He also served 12 years on the School Committee for the Acushnet School Department.
