About Robert E. Allcock, Jr. of Somerset, MA passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 8th. He was the son of the late Robert and Elinor (Brown) Allcock. He is survived by his wife Judith Richardson; his three beloved children, Kathy Silvia (Michael), Robert E. Allcock III (Zulmira) and Dana W. Allcock (Bethann), all of Tiverton, RI; his loving sister, Anne Robinson of Fall River; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three nieces and a nephew Jim, who was like another son to him.

Bob was a proud veteran and served in the Air Force specializing in radar maintenance. He was a graduate of Durfee (1955), URI and Bryant. He began his career in the restaurant business at Eileen Darlings and at Cape Cod Community College of Culinary Arts. He brought his teaching, culinary and business talents to the New Bedford School Department and local community colleges where he taught for 20 years.

He was known for his self-deprecating humor and his “Libra” diplomacy. He had a devout desire to gain deeper knowledge on numerous subjects. He cared passionately for friends and relatives. His recreational activities included fishing, boating, hunting, reading, listening to music, completing crossword puzzles, studying military history, discussing politics rationally and traveling. He was a member of the Somerset Sportsmen’s Club.

His family will receive relatives and friends at the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea, MA on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM followed by a service at 2:00 PM.
