DARTMOUTH — Frances L. (Levy) Heimberg, 89, of South Dartmouth, died on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011. She was the wife of the late Eli Heimberg.
Born in Yonkers, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Morris and Bessie (Pottish) Levy. A graduate of New York University, Mrs. Heimberg served as the Director of Music for the New Bedford Public Schools, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Tifereth Israel Congregation.
Mrs. Heimberg is survived by her children, Ellen Goldenberg of Rochester, N.Y., Paula Heimberg, MD of Gloucester, and William; her sister, Jean Ruderman of Yonkers, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Abigail Goldenberg, Ross Goldenberg (Laura Johanson), Bethany Goldenberg, Katy Stropnicky (Tom Coates) and Henry Stropnicky; her great-grandchildren, Jamie and Kyle Johansen; and many nieces, nephews, and loving caregivers. She was the sister of the late Mildred Goldberg and Ida Nathan.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 7, at 12:30 p.m. in Tifereth Israel Congregation, New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home, 200 Hawthorn St., New Bedford, MA 02740. Shiva will be private. Arrangements by Sugarman-Sinai Memorial Chapel.
