About	NEW BEDFORD — Carleatha “Pat” Nichols, 61, of New Bedford, died peacefully on December 12 2019. She was the daughter of Olive (Houtman) Smith and the late David Smith. Pat lived in New Bedford and North Dartmouth most of her life. She was a history teacher at Roosevelt Middle School and had taught several years at Keith Middle School. She truly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren friends and family. She spent much her time off sewing and teaching crafts and jewelry over the summer. Her family includes her mother Olive; her sisters Juanita Texeira, Linda Kemp and Nadine Kemp, her sons Duane Hernandez, Sr., Brandon Nichols, and the late Ross Hernandez and the father of her children Otis L. Nichols Jr.; her grandchildren, Duane Hernandez, Jr., Lela Hernandez, and Braelyn Nichols. She was the aunt of Tauri and Ray Texeira. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 18th at 11:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, December 17th from 4-8 PM.
