About Me | How do you sum up 35 years? I started work in Ft. Scott, moved on to Kansas City. Met Joe McIntire, married in 1974. I had my first child in 1976 when I was 21. We named our new little girl Angie. Then we had Jesse in 1977 and Rex in 1979. I did not work during those years. I began work again in 1982. My father passed away that year at the age of 63. That was a hard time. My husband owns his own truck and it has been quite a battle to keep that going. He started in trucking in 1984 and we have owned many different trucks through the years. Now, it is especially difficult with the fuel prices so high. During these years the children grew and finally we had our first child graduate in 1994 and then sent her off to college. In 1995 son Jesse graduated and went off to technical school in Oklahoma. Then in 1997 our last child, Rex graduated and went to college in Joplin. Whew! All of the children through school! We felt great. We have enjoyed the empty nest for a while, then as some of you know children do return. We have our youngest back at home once again due to life changes. Joe and I are enjoying this time in our life. We have 4 grandsons, ages 3, 5, 5, & 8. When I was younger I always wanted to travel by plane. Well at the age of 41 I finally did so for the first time. Joe and I went to Las Vagas and then after that it seemed like I go to travel more than I ever thought I would. The furtherest I have gone was to the Dominican Republic. I went to visit my nephew and his family as they were there on mission work. That was a very memorable visit. To get to see the people in the hills and not all the tourist spots. I will always remember that trip. The timing for my travels was a bit funny. When I was in the Dominican my first grandchild was born before I could get back. My daughter and I work together at Heartland Behavioral. We took a business trip together to Boston, Mass and as we were landing in KCI my second grandson was being born. I was returning from a famiily reunion in Kentucky when the fourth grandson was entering this world. I did get to be here for grandchild #3. So far I can say that I have had a very good life. I am not rich except in family. I enjoy our home here at 414 S. West Street in Nevada. I have an old house but we have added a covered patio on the back and we enjoy gathering out there for Bar B Q and laughter. I enjoy my flower garden and keeping the yard neat. My husband likes to help with this also. He bought a Harley 1 year ago and keeps trying to get me on it, but so far I have not ridden on i...(read more) |
