About Me | Hello. My name is Linda and I am a missionary. Now I’m not what you would first think of when you hear the word “missionary”. I’m not going to other countries sharing the gospel; at least, not yet anyway. (However, I have at one time been in the Zambian bush for two and a half months and one day I will go to other countries and share the gospel). Right now, my “mission” is a little different. When I came home from Zambia my pastor gave me a word from God. He told me not to get settled in and that God was going to use me like the wind. He said that He would take me here and that He would take me there. He also said that I would always have a roof over my head. When he told me that I had no idea what he meant. Eight years later, I see just how accurate that word was. I have never had to look for somewhere to stay. There has always been someone that has wanted me to stay with them for one reason or another. I’ve lost track of how many homes I’ve stayed in. (I quit counting after about sixty). I’ve stayed in mansions, tiny apartments, a cabin in the woods, an I.C.U. waiting room, in the projects and everything in between. I’ve slept on chairs, couches, floors, terribly uncomfortable beds, and nice ones and very nice ones. I’ve taken care of the sick and dying, baby sat, been a nanny, house sat, cleaned, cooked, ran errands, counseled, been a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen. And, I’ve always prayed. When I’m in someone’s home, prayer is always my first priority. I’ve spent many hours pouring my heart out to God for the families that He has connected me to. I don’t ask for money. (I don’t turn it down either). Jesus said, having food and clothing, therewith be content. I don’t own a home or a car. Everything I own fits in a couple of suitcases and a couple of totes. I don’t have a retirement fund, not even a bank account. Some think I’m crazy. Most people don’t understand me. A lot of people disagree with me. It doesn’t matter; I’m not living to please them anyway. Jesus said that if you wanted greatness, become a servant. That’s what I want to be, a servant. I want to do all I can to serve God by serving people. Jesus said that the wind blows where it will, where it comes from and where it goes you cannot tell. Then he said...(read more) |
