David McConnell
Class of 1979
Army, 20+ Years
After initial trainning, assigned to an Infantry Unit stationed in the Federal Republic of Germany until 1982. Returned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and deployed for "Operation Urgent Fury" on the island of Grenada in 1983. Assigned to a support unit stationed in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1985. Attended US Army Parachute School at Fort Benning, Georgia, in 1987. Assigned to the JFK Special Warfare and Trainning Center and attended Special Forces School at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in 1988. Deployed to Panama for "Operation Just Cause" in 1989. Deployed to Saudi Arabia for "Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm" in 1990 - 1991. Returned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and was reassigned to MacDill Air Force Base, Florida. Deployed to Somalia, Africa, for "Operations Restore and Continue Hope" in 1993 - 1994. Assigned to South Korea in 1996. Returned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in 1997 and retired from there in 2000. Highest Rank achieved: Sergeant First Class (E-7). Highest Award earned: The Bronze Star Medal.
