About | Anchorage resident, Kevin Joseph Shepperson, 37, passed away in Anchorage, Alaska, on January 26, 2013. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the Alaska Zoo Gateway Hall, 4731 O’Malley Road, Anchorage, Alaska, at 3 p.m. A memorial will also be held on Kevin’s birthday in Wyoming. Kevin was born on May 6, 1975, in Casper, Wyoming. He attended Natrona County High School, Casper College and was completing his studies at Wayland Baptist University. He drove the Alcan and moved to Alaska in 1999. Over the years he was employed at Alaska Industrial Hardware, Udelhoven, United Rentals and Alaska Communications. He was a supporter of Ducks Unlimited, was a proud member of AGC of Alaska and was an entered apprentice at Glacier Lodge No. 10. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and riding motorcycles. His family wrote, “Kevin was a devoted father. His daughters know he loves them. Aubrey and Gabrielle could count on him to be there for them. He did his best to attend every dance recital and school presentation – starting with the first day of school when he walked his daughter to class. He worked hard to provide the best for his family.” He enjoyed family time, especially camping in the RV, walking in the woods and biking together. Kevin was a successful salesman and loved his career. He truly enjoyed finding solutions and negotiating. Every client was considered a friend first and a business associate second. Kevin was passionate in all he did. This was evident in his love of the game of golf. He would play at the drop of a hat, rain or shine. He loved to walk the course, often to the displeasure of his companions who preferred to ride the cart. According to his mother, “he never met a stranger.” Kevin was a friendly, outgoing person who generally treated everyone he met with the respect of a friend. He couldn’t go anywhere without seeing someone he knew. There was never a “quick trip” to the store with Kevin. He was a unique, larger-than-life character who will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Virginia Shepperson, Ann Kortes, and Halsey and Ruth Kortes. He is survived by his wife Jaquel Shepperson of Anchorage, Alaska; his daughters Gabrielle and Aubrey Shepperson of Anchorage; his father and stepmother Alan and Loraine Shepperson of Soldotna, Alaska; his mother Nancy Shepperson of Casper, Wyoming; his brother Keith Shepperson also of Casper; his in-laws John and Julie Blasko of Washington, Utah; as well as extended family in Utah, Washington and Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made for the children at Alaska USA to the Kevin Shepperson Memorial Account, P.O. Box 196613 Anchorage, Alaska 99519-6613.
