Favorite School Memory Too many to list, I loved High School! I remember all my teachers well. My Dad was the Industrial Arts Teacher for 30 years and was an administrator. I remember fondly Mrs. Martha Anderson, and Ms. Nancy Suydam's Home Ec Classes; and music classes and Hale-Ray Singers with Mrs. Ellen Miller Friedman. Elsie Leatherbee was my best friend and still is to this day; a friendship of 61 years as of August 2017. I remember being called "Little Boss" after the nickname his students gave my father who was always called "Bo...(read more)
About Me As of 08-2017: I have had a full professional and personal life, having been blessed in so many ways. I served my country for 20 years total (3 years Active/12 years total Active Reserve/8 years Inactive Reserve) in the US Marine Corps and the Selective Service System. I am humbled to have been in the right place at the right time to have become the first Woman Marine Officer to serve in the Selective Service System, the first to have served as Adjutant of a USMC combat unit, to have been the first to shoot for qualification (and be authorized to wear shooting badges), and (my favorite) the first Woman Marine, and perhaps service woman in any branch, who was not forced to cut her long hair (1968). Additionally, I have been in business for myself, have been a professional cake decorator, and have passed the requirements for becoming a New Mexico Master Gardener. Currently, I am the first, and only, Green Hat Girl Scout in New Mexico. Life has it's trials as well: I am a 19+ year (Stage 4A NH Lymphoma) cancer survivor, and have survived Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME/FM (diagnosed in retrospect since 1969). With God's help, for someone whose prognosis at birth was 2 years, it is good...(read more)
