Sandra A. (Powell) McAndrews, 53, died Friday, June 23, 2017 in UMass-Memorial Healthcare, University Campus, Worcester, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Lancaster.

She is survived by her three children: Christopher McAndrews of Seattle, WA, and Stephen N. and Mary M. McAndrews, both at home; her mother and step-father, Marjorie A. (Crowley) Powell McShera and Patrick McShera, of Shrewsbury; three siblings: her twin-brother, Steven A. Powell, of Leominster, Sharon A. Hoover and her husband, Douglas, of Stow, and Scott A. Powell, and his wife, Tina, of Prosperity, SC; step-brother, Patrick J. (Rickey) McShera and his wife, Denise, of Southboro, and step-sister, Maureen Foster and her husband, James, of Shrewsbury; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Sandy was born in Clinton and raised in Lancaster, daughter of the late Nelson G. Powell. A graduate of Nashoba Regional High School, Class of 1982, she went on to study at Mount Wachusett and Quinsigamond Community Colleges, before earning a Bachelor’s Degree from Assumption College, Worcester. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Nichols College, and a second Master’s Degree in School Counseling and Guidance from Assumption College.

For 12 years until the time of her death, Sandy worked as a Guidance Counselor at St. Leo School, Leominster.

She was a member of Ev. Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton; a talented athlete, and avid outdoorswoman, who enjoyed biking, hiking, and golf.

Sandy’s funeral will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 with a service at 10:00 a.m. in the Ev. Trinity Lutheran Church, 117 Chace St., Clinton. Burial will follow in Eastwood Cemetery, Lancaster. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton, on Thursday, June 29, 2017, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Alexander C. Doucette Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Clinton Savings Bank, 200 Church St., Clinton, MA 01510.
