About Me	Justin L. McVay has more than 15 years of managerial and executive experience in business, public & government affairs, communications, public relations, and marketing. He lives in Las Vegas as an entrepreneur, startup advisor and investor. He most recently served as the Director for the Startup Center at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In this role he directed a team of advisors helping entrepreneurs and founders through the creation, formation, growth, funding, and exit strategies of building a successful startup. He counseled entrepreneurs, small business owners and startups from napkin to execution through the hurdles of business planning, strategy development, market research, customer development, product launching, financial forecasting, capital access, investor relations and much more. Prior to that role, McVay served for the Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development where he was the liaison and specialist for the technology industry. There he crafted and directed economic & business development strategies for growing the technology and IT industry statewide, ultimately creating and recruiting tech jobs in Nevada. Before GOED, he worked in the travel, tourism and hospitality industry in Las Vegas, providing communication, public relations and public affairs direction for some of the city's leading gaming and convention institutions. Prior to that, McVay served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force as a Public Affairs Officer where he advised on public and government affairs communication strategies to senior Department of Defense officials and served as an official spokesman for the U.S. military. McVay is an alumnus of the MIT-Harvard Public Disputes Program at Harvard Law, as well as holds an MBA with honors and BA in Communications and Information Sciences. McVay is very involved in the economic development and startup communities in Las Vegas and is an active participant in many #VegasTech and Innevation Center initiatives. McVay has served in membership or leadership capacities for the international academic business honors society Delta Mu Delta, the Public Relations Society of America, the American Advertising Federation, the U.S. Air Force Civilian-Military Council, the Honorable Order of E Clampus Vitus, and the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He currently is the President-elect of the Board of Directors for the Technology Business Alliance of Nevada and sits on the Governor’s Workforce Investment Board IT Sector Council.
