Leslie Gober
Class of 2002
After graduating Muscle Shoals High School, our daughter Leslie Gober has went on to achieve great things. She has donated her time to help her community while at college at NW-SCC by helping cleaning up a playground for children in Sheffield , and Children's Halloween Party through the Circle K Program .At JSU she helped with Food Drives, Coat Drives, the Shoebox Project(to help Guatmalen Orphans) Toys for Tots, Volunteering to bring awarness to programs such as the Jacksonville Christian Outreach, helping tutor her peers. She even has come back to help tutor students in Spanish at MSHS.
She was very active student during her days at North-west Shoals Community College. Leslie was a member of the NW-SCC Singers, SGA, and Circle K. She also was nominated for Miss North-west Shoals Community College and served on the Homecoming Court.
She then went on to excell as a Communication Major at JSU by becoming active in the following organizations, committees, and councils: Public Relations Organization, STAT Club(Student Today, Alumni Tommorow) , Student Goverment Association(Organizational Council and Student Activities Council), Diversity Committee for the Department of Communication at JSU, Homecoming Committee for the Department of Communication at JSU, Communication Week Committee for the Department of Communication at JSU, She was one of 20 Students chosen to represent the Department during the National Accrediation process with the ACEJMC( Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications) for the Department of Communication. She also worked hard serving as the Computer Lab Assistant for the Department of Communication,Mentored and Tutored her peers. She was PRO President (2007-2008) Director of Publicity(2006-2007) Social Chair for STAT Club (2006- 2007) and has assisted with Departmental Events such as the Ayers Lecture. She was also honored with these awards from JSU Character Award Winner from the Department of Communication (2007,2008) Leadership Award from the Department of Communication( 2008) PRO Student of the Year(2007,2008).
Leslie was also a member of JSU's Chamber Singers, A Capella Choir, Gospel Choir, the Cast of the Mystery of Edwin Drood, and Opera Scenes Workshop.
We are so incredibly proud of Leslie and know we will see bright things out of her future.
