| About Me | LeGrande is actually my middle name, although my family calls me Lee. When we were kids my older sister would introduce me as Gordon LeGrande Lee for short Webb. I have always used my middle name which was never a problem until the internet came along. You may have noticed that online forms always ask for first name and middle initial and the software is inflexible and unforgiving. As I see it, those of us who use our middle names have three unsatisfactory choices. We can obey the form and then forever after explain that we don't use our first name, or we can just use both initials which is also problematic, or we can lie and use our middle name as our first. I've wondered how the providers of these inflexible software forms would handle such historical figures as F. Scott Fitzgerald, W. Somerset Maugham, J. Edgar Hoover, or R. Buckminster Fuller. Then there's J. Paul McCartney. His first name is James. I kind of like John, James, George, and Ringo. Such beautiful alliteration. I think those of us who use our middle names should join together.
