About	Brenda J. Owens Sparkman, age 59, of Marion and formerly of Mount Gilead, died early Saturday morning, September 6, 2014, at the Morning View Pointe Care Center in Marion following an extended illness. On September 29, 1954, Brenda was born in Mount Gilead, Ohio, one of four children of the late Price and Francis (Ostrom) Owens. For many years Brenda worked as a machine operator at Arundale Inc. in Mount Gilead, and she also worked at several other plants as well. Always happy, Brenda found enjoyment in the simple things in life, such as making necklaces, Indian artifacts, swimming, bingo and her beloved soap operas. Most importantly though, she cherished every moment spent with her family. Loved by everyone, Brenda will forever be remembered for her caring heart, being very outspoken, and for being a fun loving jokester. She will be missed by her daughter, Tara Owens; son, Wade Sparkman, both of Marion; three grandchildren: Danae, Daniel, and Dylan Lanum; three great-grandchildren: Kaelynn and Mason Shoemaker, and McKenna Reed; a brother, Jeff Owens of Mount Gilead; six nieces and nephews: Kalie Crowe, Carrine Robinson, Tony Owens, Troy Truax, Jill Harrod and Larry Harrod; and several great nieces and nephews. A memorial service honoring her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church, 55 N. Cherry St., Mount Gilead, with Rev. Deb Bowsher officiating. Her family will greet friends for an prior to her services at the church. Burial will take place at a later date in Glendale Cemetery in Cardington. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
