Obituary:
J (Chappy) Chapman passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 6, 2010 surrounded by his family. Chappy was born October 5, 1950 in Moses Lake, WA. He was a graduate of Moses Lake High School in 1969. Chappy lived in the Moses Lake area for much of his youth and had wonderful memories growing up in this area. Chappy had an extensive level of creativity and imagination and on many occasions turned the neighborhood into a literal "Carnival". He was also a founder and creator of a local band with a promotional motto of, “The Elastic Sound of That Rubber Band”. Chappy was married to Susan Muench of Ephrata, WA. and they were blessed with a Son, Jason Chapman of Seattle, WA. During their marriage they were the Host and Hostess of one of the largest Halloween Parties known in this County, which was held at the Adrian Hotel. This Halloween Party is still talked about to this day. In 2000, his Son Jason blessed him with a granddaughter Jaida. Chappy was a talented Carpenter by trade and had mastered the highest level of craftsmanship. His work took him to California, Oregon and Washington. After a number of years in Oregon, Chappy relocated to Olympia, WA where he was partners with his brother Jim at J & J Scrap and Salvage. Chappy is survived by his parents J and Sylvia (Fran) Chapman, Brother Mark (Michelle) Chapman, Sister Zonda Chapman and Son Jason and Granddaughter Jaida. He is also survived by Nephews Colin, Casey, Kyle, David and Chad Chapman, and Nieces Tonya, Ashley and Mackenzie. Chappy was preceded in death by Brothers Howard Loy Chapman and James Lee Chapman. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rose Street Chapel, 1036 W. Rose Ave., Moses Lake, with Bishop Don Tucker conducting. Interment will follow in Guarding Angels Cemetery, Moses Lake. A visitation with the family greeting friends will take place at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake.
