| About Me | Born and raised in Asheville, NC one of the world's most beautiful places. My undergraduate degees are in Musicology and Art History with post graduate studies in Interior Design at the University of Tennessee. My first professional experience was with a large prestigeous department store in Atlanta where I served as Home Furninshings Coordinator. Later, still in Atlanta, I joined a newly formed hotel developement/ management firm as VP of Design and Development. My work took me through Europe and the Middle East. A great learning experience. In 1979 Angelo Donghia, the world famous interior designer from NY asked me to join him and to head his contract design company. Over the next 10 years, we did such prestigeous projects as the SS. "NORWAY", the former SS. "FRANCE". For this project I moved to Germany for a year, again a wonderful life experience. Stateside we did hotels in NYC, Miami, and New Orleans as well as several projects for Donald Trump including Trump Tower, Mr. Trump's own tri-plex and Trump Plaza. In 1987, I formed my company ROBERT WOODFIN JONES, INC. still based in NYC. Over these past several years I have continued to work on commercial and residential projects. Travel has served not only as a great pleasure but a major hands on learning experience. Each year I try to spend at least one week in Venice, Italy. Surely the most mysterious and most beautiful city in the world She has served me most generously as muse, both professionally and personally. Music was and continues to be my first love in life. This was a gift from God. In college I studied piano and organ and continue to play to this day. I have been so fortunate!! In music, I find my therapy and rest. Never having learned to cook, I eat out every night. I enjoy sharing this time with my friends and find a good bottle of wine brings people together in a very special way. I can not imagine a more beautiful way to live the rest of my life than sitting in the sun, preferably in Venice, at table surrounded by good friends with plenty of good wine and ...(read more) |
