Bernie and I joined the Marine Corp together in 1965. Bernie became a "grunt" 0111 MOS and went to Vietnam quickly after boot Camp at P.I. Bernie was wounded on this first tour and was sent to the Charleston SC Weapons Station where he hated the duty and sign up for a 2nd tour in Vienam. He was assigned to 2/4 2nd battalion, 4th Marine Div "The Magnificent Bastards" where was wounded and treated on a floating hospital and then sent back to the field where he was killed by and enemy gernade on Aug. 6, 1968.
At this time I was a patient at the Phila. Navael hospital. Bernie's Mother requested I escort Bernies remains to the burial.
Bernie recieved full Military honors and is burried in St Mary's Cemetery in McKees Rocks. Signed; Cpl William O'Shea USMC
