According to the report, she was a passenger in a car driven by her husband Eric. He was transported to a Crown Point, Ind., hospital after the accident. Mrs. Newgent was born Sept. 28, 1957 in Rensselaer, Ind., to Mr. and Mrs. Emil Savich. She was a 1975 graduate of Momence High School and a member of the Momence First Baptist Church. She was married May 19, 1977 in Fairfield, Iowa to Eric Newgent. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother, Joanne Savich of Momence, her father of Rensselaer; two sisters, Debbie Ann Savich of Momence and Driena Nesius of Rensselaer; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Leinen of Momence. Mrs. Newgent graduated from Maharishi International University, Fairfield, in 1979 and was studying for a master’s degree there. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Cotter Funeral Home and after noon Wednesday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. David Garver will conduct the funeral at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church and burial will be in the church cemetery. A memorial has been established in her name for the church.
