I lost my 1976 class ring on September 1, 1976 while at the beach in Hollywood (in the sand). We were near Monroe St. The ring was yellow gold and the stone was blue aquamarine. My name (signature - Cindy Rogers) was engraved on the inside. If found please contact me at cindyrogers2958@yahoo.com.

This was a article in todays newspaper. Maybe it will help someone find their ring.
Boca Raton man searching for owner of class ring lost 40 years ago
Did you lose a 1974 Miramar High School class ring at Konover Hotel in Miami Beach?

For about 40 years, Albert Berkowitz has held onto the 1974 Miramar High School class ring, hopeful that one day he would find its rightful owner.

He kept it on his bedroom dresser in a wooden jewelry box mixed in with other little knickknacks — cuff links and money clips — occasionally taking it out over the years and wondering how it lost its way and how to get it back where it belongs.

"I'm sure the ring means something to someone," he said.
Man seeks lost ring's owner
Al Berkowitz of Boca Raton seeks to a return a long lost Miramar High School class ring to its owner.

Berkowitz, 62, is coming forward now, hoping someone will recognize the man's ring with a purple stone and the engraved initials BJG.

He received the ring from his mother in the mid- to late-1970s. For more than 20 years, she worked at the Konover Hotel in Miami Beach where conventions, banquets, proms and special events were held.

Arninda "Carmen" Berkowitz was a head cashier at the hotel, which changed ownership and names several times over the years. It also was called the Hilton Plaza, the Miami Beach Hyatt House, Playboy Plaza and Castle Premier.

Berkowitz thinks a waiter or busboy turned it in to his mother after one of the hotel's events.

"I guess she didn't know what to do with it," said Berkowitz, who lives west of Boca Raton. "She showed it to me. I held on to it this whole time."

Plenty has happened since his mother gave him the ring. She passed away in June 1994. Berkowitz sold the family's North Miami Beach home where he grew up. He lived in Hollywood for about three years before moving to West Boca six years ago.

Finding the owner of that class ring has dogged him through the years.

"I thought maybe one day I would make it to Miramar High School and do the legwork myself," he said. "I never did."

Like many, work consumed him. Berkowitz for the last 27 years has been a teller at South Florida thoroughbred race tracks, including Gulfstream Park and Calder Casino & Race Course. He takes customer's bets and handles payouts.

When he moved to Boca Raton, Berkowitz took out the ring and decided to reach out to Miramar High School. He sent an email to the school but never heard back from anyone.

Getting rid of the ring or selling it never occurred to him.

"I wouldn't sell it; it just wouldn't feel right," he said. "My mother operated with a lot of integrity. I owe everything I am in my life to my mother. She was a good role model."

Berkowitz's best guess is that the ring's owner lost it during his prom night. Or maybe he had already graduated and came back to take his girlfriend to her prom.

Berkowitz hopes the owner would be able to show a high school diploma from that era to prove the ring is his. Either way, he thinks his mother would be ecstatic if the ring fell back into the right hands.

"It would be great to find the owner of this ring," he said.
