| Favorite School Memory | Just one? P.A.V.A.S. symposium, 1971--a successful and fulfilling project. But actually, I loved open campus senior year when Nancy, Leslie, Liza, Laurie and I would pile into Nancy's car and go to Snappy's for snacks! |
| About Me | So many things. Out of 9 lives, I figure I'm on #8. I've lived in many different places, traveled a lot. Lived in Maine during part of my 5-year marriage to Don Babineau (class of 1968). Lived in Alaska for 5 years, where my sister and daughter still live. I was a clerk typist for Alaska Dept. Fish & Game where I had the privilege and great adventure of going in a light airplane on a caribou survey with an experienced bush pilot/biologist--exciting and interesting; I spent a month in India; I have lived in Iowa since 1983, involved peripherally with the Transcendental Meditation "community," but very active in the town--coached the town swim team for 3 years; was musical director of a 7th grade production of Gilbert & Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance (my daughter played the part of Ruth), and then directed an 8th grade girls' choral ensemble. To stave off grieving the "empty nest" I turned to activism in my spare time when I'm not doing contract jobs in administrative services. I am one of the founding members and past Sec./Treas. of Iowans for Voting Integrity since the debacle of the 2000 and 2004 elections. I was Chair of the Exec. Committee of the local Sierra Club for 3 years; and past Vice Pres. of the Board of the Fairfield Cultural Alliance. I've also been one of the chief organizer's of our extended family's Thanksgiving Reunion held in East Longmeadow with often around 110 family members. We have this reunion every other year, and the tradition dates back to 1912! I write many letters to legislators and am actively involved in peace movements and environmental protection.
