ANNOUNCEMENT: TREE PLANTING FOR JANICE VOSS - MINNECHAUG ALUMNI
In honor of NASA astronaut Janice Voss, Minnechaug Regional High School graduate, class of 1972 there will be a presentation at Minnechaug on October 19th at 2:30 pm. The tree planting ceremony will take place at the ‘Tree’ site at the front entrance of the school.
Janice started with NASA in 1973 and was selected as an astronaut in 1990.
Some of Janice’s achievements were:
1990’s - She flew four missions
2000 - International Space Station in 2000.





Janice’s final trip was part of a radar topography mission. This mission was one that
mapped more than 47 million square miles of Earth’s surface.




One of six women to fly in space at least five times, as well as one of just a few
astronauts, male or female, to log more than 1,000 hours in space.





Voss first went into space aboard the shuttle Endeavour in June 1993, logging 239 hours
in just that first trip into orbit.

In January, 2000, aboard Endeavour, this time for her fifth flight, for a mission to map
much of the Earth.


Linda Voss, (class of ’75) Janice’s sister will be flying up for the ceremony. For anyone who would like to meet with Linda beforehand; we will be meeting for lunch 12p-2p at Friendly’s, 1811 Boston Road, Springfield.

Minnechaug is having a flea market on March 31st, 2012 from 9am- 12pm in the Green Gym. We have almost 500 yearbooks dating all the way back to 1962. Wilbraham Library opens new teen space Nov 20, 2010

Alumni: if you are in Wilbraham the weekend of Nov 20, Please come to the Wilbraham Public Library on Saturday from 12-2 pm. We will celebrate the mezzanine renovations, including "The Loft" our new teen space! There will be refreshments and music. Hope to see you all there!

Alumni Survey for Anniversary

Attention all Minnechaug alumni:

In celebration of the 50th year anniversary of Minnechaug, The Smoke Signal will be producing an anniversary insert with the first edition of the newspaper this school year. This insert will include articles, pictures and spreads that capture the essence of Minnechaug throughout the decades and relate it to where the school is now. We are looking for your help to obtain information about Minnechaug’s past. You can help us by filling out a survey that asks questions about your time at Minnechaug. The survey can be found at:
