About Russell Angus MacRae, February 15, 1960 - June 8, 2011 - Funeral services for Russell Angus MacRae, 51, Lawton, will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Trinity Assembly of God with Rev. Lloyd Grubbs, Pastor officiating. Mr. MacRae died Wednesday at his residence. Entombment with military honors will be in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Family will greet friends on Sunday afternoon from 2 pm to 4pm at the funeral home. He was born February 15, 1960 in Palmer, Massachusetts to William Lincoln and Frances Ruth (Smith) MacRae. He attended Pines Elementary, Wilbraham Junior & Senior High. Russell joined the U.S. Army on March 9, 1977 and served as a Field Artillery Target Acquisition Specialist until being honorably discharged on March 9, 1980 earning the M-16 Rifle Expert and the Hand Grenade Expert Badges. After the Military, he spent many years driving a tractor trailer for a few companies, to include, Allied Van Lines whom he spent the most time with. He then went on to become an instructor for New England Tractor Trailer Training School in Somers, Connecticut. He then went to work for the Fire Department in Somers as a Fire Fighter and Emergency Medical Technician for 7 years. His last job was working for American Ambulance Service in Norwich, CT as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and Emergency Medical Dispatcher. He retired in 2010. His favorite job was as the Captain of the “Tanya Marie” which he did for the last 10 years. He enjoyed boating, diving, camping, fishing, bowling and cooking. He loved to travel all around the world including an annual trip to Mexico. He also enjoyed watching the sun rise every morning, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his daughter, Tanya MacRae, granddaughter, Selicia DuBose, both of the home, his mother, Frances MacRae, East Longmeadow, MA; brother and fiancé, Ralph MacRae and Karen Loiselle, Monson, MA; sister, Jane MacRae, Sarasota, FL; Niece, Alessandra Love and husband Adam Simons, Oakland, CA; five nephews, Clifford Jorgenson, Sarasota, FL, Michael, Kenneth and Christopher Kelly, all of Lawton and Gerry Siscel, Guymon, OK; other family members, Ann Faggion, Olga Kelly, Kelly and Garrett Dionne and Michael Kelly Jr. all of Lawton; the “Tanya Marie” crew, Jeffery Way, Edward Dubois, Matthew Duval, Walter Bell, Peter Cardillo and Tim Monahan; two special friends, Laurie Mastrangelo-Simmons, North Carolina and Maria Wilson, Connecticut; and many other relatives and loving friends. He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents. Memorial contributions may be made to, Faith Hospice, 1925 W. Events Russ joined the service in 1977, did not graduate with our class, but he was in the school system since he was a little kid. A good guy.
