I very well remember Doug Michael. As the physics teacher at Mingus Union HS he was one of the most interested and enthusiastic students I had the opportunity of having in class during my years of teaching. I worked with Michael on special projects outside of class including one involving producing a hologram in our lab. Although the outcome was not “publish worthy” I could see the potential in Michael as he spent hours researching and working with another student at night on their own time. Actually staying overnight on one occasion. He was a true scientist then and throughout his lifetime. I am grateful to have had the privilege of working with him.
