| About Me | I joined the AF right out of high school and was a medical technician for 9 years. I married in 1985 while stationed in Germany to Shawn Garten. We had a baby girl in 1993, Taylor. During all this we moved to West Virginia for a couple of years to be closer to Shawn's family. I was a stay at home mom and Shawn worked as a pharmacist for Rite Aid. We were not happy in WV so Shawn decided to get his commission in the AF and once again we were moving. This time to Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi. I then went back to school and received my BSN at the University of Southern Mississippi. I then received my commission in the AF and we moved to Eglin AFB in Florida. After a few more moves we ended up in Shreveport, Louisiana where we both retired from the AF and are now working as civilians. I work in the GI Lab at Willis Knighton Pierremont Hospital and Shawn currently works at the VA here in Shreveport. Taylor is 21 now and works as a bartender here at an upscale restaurant.
