About Me | For over two decades, she has been a leader in federal, county and local emergency management agencies. Dr. McBride served as deputy director/coordinator of the Atlantic City Office of Emergency Management for 15 years, and 5 years in the Atlantic County Office of Emergency Management. During this tenure, several Presidential Declarations were issued which provided the experience to form partnerships and work with the various Federal, State and local agencies. In both capacities, she assisted in leading, directing, controlling, and organizing emergency management programs, personnel, functions, and systems. Dr. McBride serves as Disaster Assistance Employee, Region II, United States, Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency (DHS/FEMA). She was selected for service in 1995, and has served in the External Affairs and Individual Assistance Cadres. While she has served in numerous positions, her management and leadership experience includes such large-scale disasters as Super Typhoon Pongsona in Guam, Hurricane Georges in Puerto Rico; the New York City World Trade Center response, the 2007 California Wildfires, the four hurricanes that struck Florida in 2004, the Midwest floods in 1997 and 2008, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005-2007, Hurricane Gustuv in Kentucky in 2008, and Hurricane Ike in Texas in 2008. Since 1999, she has served on the FEMA National Credentialing Committee; the Testing, Training, Assessment, Credentialing, and Certification Focus Group; the External Affairs Credentialing Focus Group; and the Community Relations Mobile Training Unit. Also, she successfully completed the Community Relations Train-the-Trainer Program, Instructional Delivery for Subject Matter Experts, and the Professional Development Series (T-T-T) courses through the Emergency Management Institute. Dr. McBride has served as a Visiting Lecturer in Public Administration at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and as a Public Policy Professor at the University of Virgin Islands. She is a Certified Public Manager and Certified Volunteer Administrator. Dr. McBride is Past President of Region II, International Association of Emergency Managers and Past Chairperson, Atlantic County (NJ) FEMA Emergency Food and Shelter Board. Her current passion is promoting peace and nonviolence and serving as a liaison between the faith and community based organizations and the county.
