About	John D. Shonts was born May 16, 1927 in Oklahoma City and died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the age of 81 years. Shonts was the son of Clarence S. and Esther Lenora Davis Shonts. He served in the United States Army and the United States Air Force and retired from the US Postal Service. Shonts was a member of the Wellston Christian Church of Wellston, Oklahoma and the North Side Christian Church in Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mada Ileen Shonts and one brother, Clarence "Sonny" Shonts. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, James D. "Jim" and Deborah Shonts and Steven W. and Karen Shonts, one daughter, Debra Toeplitz, one brother, Richard Shonts of Oklahoma City, two sisters, Sharon Anglin and Shirley Byford of Choctaw, Oklahoma, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held September 20, 2008 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, Midwest City, Oklahoma. Burial followed at Arlington Memory Gardens in Midwest City under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home.
