SHERRY CHILDERS OBITUARY
March 23, 1949 - Aug 31, 2014 OKLAHOMA CITY Sherry Ruff Childers lost her two-year battle with leukemia on August 31, 2014. Born on March 23, 1949, in Oklahoma City, she grew up in Midwest City, OK and was a proud "Bomber" and an avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooners. An unabashed dog-lover, Sherry's home contained oil portraits and numerous photographs of her beloved Malteses. Sherry's compassion extended to all animals; one did not dare to wear a fur coat around her, even if you had one to wear. A prolific reader, Sherry's book collection could fill a small town's public library. She participated in book clubs over the years and could always be counted on for a review and a good recommendation for her less literary friends. She recently took up needlepoint and spent most every week with friends in Norman perfecting her newly discovered talent. Simultaneously fun-loving and thoughtful, she was the perfect friend and leaves behind many who are grateful to wear that mantel. Sherry is also survived by her parents, Glen and Allene Ruff; her loving husband, Steve Childers; daughter, Linda Childers; sister, Teresa Roberts and her husband Dennis; nephew, Dennis Roberts II and his wife Stephanie and children, Henley and Briggs; and brother-in-law, Scott Childers and his wife Nancy. Sherry will truly be missed.
