Judith Ann (Scott) Norton, has passed away after a battle with mesothelioma. Judy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Rev. Ivan, her son, James, her daughter, Beth Ann (Jamey) Vickery, her granddaughter, Julianna, her grandson, James, and her brother, Ian. Judy was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother, and a proud grandmother. Judy graduated from Middletown High School, class of 1969. Judy held degrees from Acadia University (BA History) and the Atlantic School of Theology (MTS). Judy became a Canadian citizen in 1973, she was very proud to say, "I am a citizen of Canada." Judy was a woman of faith. Always interested in local history, she was a recognized authority and valued resource for inquiries into the New England Planters. In later years, Judy was actively involved at the Kings Historical Society in Kentville. She was a member of The United Church of Canada, and served the church capably and with devotion, providing church leadership for over 50 years. Starting as a teenage Sunday School teacher, then as a minister's wife, volunteering proved to be the steppingstone for Judy as she provided ministry in the areas of Christian Education, Bible Studies, Adult Study Courses, as well as preaching and leading worship. In retirement, she was lay worship leader and an elder at Emmanuel United Church, Kingsport. I met and knew Judy the last two years of high school and we graduated together in 1969. I remember she was very active in school events and student clubs. and always stood out in whatever she did. I also remember visiting her many times at the Seamen’s Church Institute in Newport where she worked at the canteen. As one of her many friends, I also attended her wedding with Ian in Middletown. Judy was a wonderful person to know and had a deep love for her local church and Canada. it does not surprise me that she followed those steps and that path later on in her life. ...Dennis Magnan

Judy was a best friend in high school, and I was a bridesmaid at her wedding with Ian in Middletown. We were on the debate team, and she was MUCH better than I was. I also remember her as a thespian and a star in high school plays.
