Matthew J. Appleby, 60, of Korlingen, Germany, died Monday, March 1, 2010 in his home. His early life was spent in Highspire and Middletown, PA. He attended Penn State University and graduated from the University of Trier in Germany after completing a four year tour of duty with the USAF. He recently retired from a life of teaching geography and English at the secondary and college levels in Trier, Germany. He was a published author of geography textbooks used in German schools. He enjoyed reading, walking, traveling, listening to music, drinking German wine and experimenting with the latest in electronic technology.
