| About Me | Graduated from Heidelberg, married Dick Schott, taught one semester at Miamisburg, moved to Germany to be with my husband who was in the army. Amy was born there and after returning to Msbg., our second child, Jenni, was born 5 years later. I returned to school at WSU, studied music, received my bachelor's degree and began teaching school in Vandalia in 1982. I taught music at all age levels, directed musicals, did some theater work with Dayton Playhouse and other groups, participated in Muse Machine, sang in the Dayton Bach Society and Musica!, and was a church organist in different area churches for 30 years. In 1993 I returned to WSU to receive my masters in music. For a few years I taught private piano lessons. I helped to found a gifted childrens' support group with Charlie Stough who writes (or did at the time) for the Dayton Daily News. To further the cause, I spoke to the Ohio House to secure funding. The group is now the Southwestern Ohio Ass'n for Gifted and Talented Children. In 2001 I married Dan Oaks, who was a bailiff in the Cincinnati Courts, now retired. Amy was a law clerk in his courtroom and thought we were a perfect match. It turned out to be true- as Dan says, it was love at tenth sight.
