| About Me | Went to college. Graduated. Went to Europe. Came home and got a newspaper job in Punta Gorda, FL. Quit the job and went back overseas, spending several months living in London. Came home again and got a job at the Palm Beach Times in West Palm in 1976. Moved to Tallahassee in 1978 as Times Capital Bureau Chief. Met Sharon McCollum in 1979 and married her in 1985. Still happily together more than 30 years later. Became press secretary to Democratic Attorney General Bob Butterworth in 1989. Got fired by incoming Republican Attorney General Charlie Crist in 2002. Decided I didn't want to go back to work and formally retired at 55. Diagnosed in October 2010 with malignant brain tumor. Underwent surgery, six weeks of radiation and one year of chemotherapy. Not cured but hanging in there. Currently living contentedly in Tallahassee...(read more) |
