About Me | We met at Hot Shoppes in Miami, Florida in 1969 (a drive-in restaurant like Arnold's on Happy Days) when Bill sent the waitress to get my phone number. After dating for a while be told me he had seen me at a Jay and the American's concert in 1967 and searched around Miami for me for 2 years until he found me. At first I wasn't sure I believed him but he told me I wore white slacks with a red sleeveless blouse which was one of my favorite outfits then. He tried to catch me but I got out and through the crowd and to my car before he could get to me. We dated for a couple years and even ran away to get married one night, but then Bill called his mother so she would know he was okay and she made him turn the car around and come back home. Looking back he says he should have just left a note. We both regret now that we turned around and went back home because we lost 38 years of our lives together. Bill went into the army for 20 years and loved being in Special Forces. I met and married someone else on the rebound within the year. My sexy Green Beret also married but it was many years later. Neither of our marriages worked out. We both realize and admit to each other that we were always in love with each other so any other marriage really never had much of a chance. He was always the love of my life and it means so much to me to know that I have always been the love of his. The entire 38 years we were apart Bill kept in touch with my parents, my brothers, my friends and called me from time-to-time, especially whenever I moved just to let me know he was still out there and was keeping up with me. In 1991 he surprised me when he showed up on my doorstep in Georgia to try to get back together. However, his timing could not have been worse. I had remarried 3 days earlier. He was very sweet about it and even helped my new husband and me move into our new house and he and his brother wired our phone system for us. In 2006 he learned I was divorced and emailed me and signed the email "Still, forever in love with you." Our emails were more and more frequent and soon he was calling me too. In 2007 we saw each other for the first time since he visited me in Georgia in 1991. He asked me to move to Florida to be closer to him and on January 3, 2009 we finally made it to the alter! This was extrememly difficult for me because Bill loves to travel and for the past 20 years he had travelled extensively and I knew he still wanted to continue travelling. I told him I was not moving to Florida or going to be his wife just to sit home while he ran around the world. He promised me he would never take a trip without me - anywhere he went I would be by his side. His work often entailed a lot of travel but since we've been back together he has turned down all work details if he can't take me. He has kept his promise and since we got back together he has never been away from me overnight. I acutally heard Bill tell a prospective emplolyer for a work detail, "I'm happily married and my wife and I are very clingy and we won't be separated - we like to sleep together at night - so if that is a deal breaker, you need to find someone else for the job." They found someone else I guess because we never heard from them again. If I had known that Bill would be such loving and devoted husband I would have married much sooner! During Bill's 20 years in Special Forces he spent a lot of time in Ft. Bragg, Panama, Germany and ended his army career teaching ROTC at San Jose State Univeristy when he retired in 1990. I was a legal secretary and eventually started my own temporary service for the media businesses. In 1993 I obtained a real estate license and am still a member of the Phoenix Club with over 10 years straight in the Million Dollar Club. Cu...(read more) |
