About	Daniel W. Ford, 40, died at his home Tuesday, April 7, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. Dan was born in Methuen on Dec. 30, 1968. He was a 1988 graduate of Methuen High School where he excelled as an all-star athlete in football, hockey and track. As a junior and senior year running back, he ran for a thousand yards each season. He was also a top quarter-miler on the track team and a class B runner-up in both his junior and senior years, running a personal best of 50.8 seconds. In his senior year, he was the anchor leg of the 4X400 State Championship team and voted Outstanding Male Athlete at Methuen High. In 1986, Dan was chosen for the Channel 5 Mike Lynch "High Five of the Week." In 1997, Dan was inducted into the Methuen High School Hall of Fame. After graduation, he went on to attend and play football at the University of New Haven and the University of Lowell. In 1995, Dan entered the BCT #5 Essex County Sheriff's Department Academy where he received the top physical fitness award and became a correctional officer at the Correctional Alternative Center in Lawrence. He was employed there for 13 years before taking a custodial position at the Greater Lawrence Vocational Technical School. Dan was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his parents, Ronald and Anne (Rand) Ford of Methuen; his love, Tricia Nadeau of Haverhill; brothers, Mike and his wife Anne Marie of Haverhill and Tim and his wife Kim of Methuen; sisters, Kathy Gagne of Winchendon and her long-time companion Darryl Smart of Munson, Patti and her wife Jaime Prohaska of Haverhill and Beth Ford-DelRosso and her fiance Michael Owens of Haverhill; 13 nieces and nephews and a great niece and nephew.
