About	Marissa C. Joyce, age 21, of Menomonie, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, at her home, with her family, after battling cancer for the last two and one-half years. Marissa was born July 19, 1985, in Stillwater, Minn., the daughter of Fran and Lisa (Tourtillott) Joyce. Marissa resided in Stillwater until she moved with her family in 1996 to Menomonie. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary School and graduated in 2003 from Menomonie High School. While in school, Marissa participated in dance in her early years and Menomonie Area Aquatic Club (MAAC) swimming. She was on the high school swim team all four years and was also on the girls’ softball team. Marissa loved to ski and snowboard during the winter. Marissa was currently attending the University of Minnesota-Duluth until becoming ill. She also helped coach the MAAC swimming team and gave swimming lessons. While in college in Duluth, she also taught skiing and snowboarding at Spirit Mountain in Duluth. Marissa loved all outdoor activities. Marissa is survived by her parents, Fran and Lisa Joyce of Menomonie; two sisters, Meghan and Kaitlyn, at home; paternal grandmother, Leona Joyce of St. Paul, Minn.; maternal grandmother, Audrey Johnson of Naples, Fla.; maternal grandfather, Alva Tourtillott of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Patrick Joyce. Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Menomonie with the Rev. Thomas Krieg officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
