About | Travis G. Williams, age 31, of N. Terre Haute, Ind., formerly of Menomonie, died as the result of an auto accident near Gentryville, Ind., on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, while traveling with his young son on a trip. Travis was born Dec. 9, 1968, to Grant Jr. and Barbara (Leach) Williams. He graduated in 1986 (date incorrect in published obituary) from Menomonie High School. He attended Chippewa Valley Technical College, taking management and business courses. He moved to Sioux City, Iowa, in March 1992 to work at Menards. After a few months, he moved to Terre Haute to become the hardware manager for Menards. Travis loved his job and especially his family. When Travis was a newspaper carrier for the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram, he received a certificate for no complaints from his customers in all the years he had the route. His paper route and organ lessons meant a lot to him. He is survived by his parents, Grant Jr. and Barbara Williams; two children, Travis Jay, 8, and Teresa, 13; fiancee, Tricia McBride; two sisters, Jacquelynn (Eugene) Wilman and Marcia (Pat) Greeley; two brothers, Lynn (Donna Donahue) Williams and Ken (Jill) Williams; four nieces, Tracy (Brian) Wellington, Jessi Williams, and Ashley and Latacia Greeley; five nephews, Chris and Jim Wilman, Jeff Weimer, Matt Greeley and Joshua Williams; a great-nephew, Damek Wellington; many cousins; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mabel and Ward Leach, and his paternal grandparents, Gladys and Grant S. Williams Sr. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2000 at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie with the Rev. Dave Whelan officiating. Burial will be in Teegarden Cemetery, Town of Lucas. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Travis devoted all his free time to being a loving companion and father. He loved to coach softball and camp and fish with his son. He was a very loving son, brother, father, and uncle. He was a companion and friend to many. A memorial fund has been set up by Menards for Travis at Terre Haute First National Bank, Plaza North, Terre Haute, IN 47804.
