KENNETH R. KRUEGER

On Sunday, August 17th, the Lord called to His side the soul of Kenneth Raymond Krueger, age 59, of Spokane, WA, formerly of Menomonie, WI. He passed away at the Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane.

He was born August 20, 1948 in Menomonie, WI to Henry and Violet (Maves) Krueger. Ken was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Menomonie. He attended grade school at St. Paul’s Lutheran Elementary School and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1966.

Ken served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and earned the rank of Sgt. in the 101st Air-borne. He received several medals, including two purple hearts and the bronze star.

After his military service, Ken worked briefly at 3-M in Menomonie before moving to Cheney, Washington where he pursued a degree in geology at Eastern Washington State University. He purchased Showalter’s Tavern in Cheney which he owned and operated for several years. In the mid-80’s, he moved to Spokane where he served as a postal carrier for many years for the U.S. Post Office, until his disability retirement five years ago.

Ken was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Menomonie and a member of V.F.W. Post #51 in Spokane. Ken loved playing dart-ball as well as English darts and was a passionate Green Bay Packer fan.

A sister, Donna (Tom) Chaudoir of Menomonie
A brother, Thomas (Karen) Krueger of Menomonie
Nieces and nephews,
Scott (Alex) Wagner of Savage, MN
Jenny (Kevin) Hanson of Eau Claire
Nicholas, Lucas and Andrea Krueger all of Menomonie
A beloved aunt, Alma Maves of Menomonie
He is also survived by cousins and other relatives and friends

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Violet Krueger, grandparents and many well-loved aunts and uncles.

An 11:00AM memorial service is scheduled for Thursday (Aug. 21st) at the Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home (1306 N. Monroe St.) in Spokane with visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

A second memorial service is scheduled for 11:00AM on Friday (Aug. 29th) at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Menomonie. Visitation will be at the Olson Funeral Home Thursday evening (Aug. 28th) from 5:00-8:00 and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Church Cemetery immediately following the service, with military honors by Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard..
