Charles Maher Class of 1980
Navy, 20+ Years
Enlisted in the Navy prior to graduation. Went to boot camp 1 week after graduation and stayed active duty for 29 years. Went from the rank of E-1 through Chief Petty Officer (E-7) and recieved a commission retireing at the rank of Lieutenant Commander (O-4). Favorite duty stations/positions were Maintenance Officer on board USSJohn F. Kennedy CV-67responsible for decommissioning the 94,000 ton national asset and the Leading Chief Petty Officer for Electrical Division on the USS SPARTANBURG COUNTY (LST-1192).

Army, 20+ Years
Spent a number of years as a communications electronics repairman to include cryptography equipment. I received my comission as a 2nd Lieutenant and served two 6 month tours in the first Persian Gulf war. I got out of the service in 2003, as a Captain, with a disability from damage to my spine suffered over my years of service.
