About	YORK COUNTY - Dr. Matthew Dollar peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 4, 2007. Matt was born July 17, 1970, and had been valiantly struggling to recover from a tragic accident he suffered on July 1, 2005. Born and raised in Newport News, Matt graduated from Menchville High School in 1988. He attended ODU and received his degree in dentistry from the Medical College of Virginia in 1998. Matt led an energetic, purposeful and spiritually-driven lifestyle, devoted to family and membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Matt was generous and community-spirited, with a successful dental practice in partnership with his father. His patients were charmed by his personality and the attitude with which he approached his work â€“ and reports of his pain-free dentistry are not greatly exaggerated. He was known throughout Hampton Roads as a WAVY-TV 10 ?Expert On Your Side.? His accomplishments and his zest for life made him a source of inspiration. Despite his numerous responsibilities Matt made time to stay physically fit and healthy. This expression of enthusiasm for life has been sorely missed by those who knew and loved him, but there is new peace in knowing that he is resting from his long struggle and living again with his Heavenly Father. Matt is survived by his wife, Darlene Reese Dollar, his daughter Kayla (13) and two sons, Cole (7) and Jesse (1); his loving mother and father, Dr. and Mrs. James Dollar, and his sister, Mrs. Katie Dollar Morello; his maternal grandmother, Edna Sholar Marlowe, and a large extended family, most of them living on the Peninsula. The family wishes to thank all of Matt's prayerful supporters over the past year and a half, particularly those who visited with him. We are also grateful to all of the medical professionals who assisted him, especially those at The Newport Convalescent Center, the ICU staff at Riverside Hospital and Riverside Convalescent Center. Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Family and friends were received on Friday, January 5, 2007, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2007, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 902 Denbigh Boulevard, beginning at 9 a.m. A private family graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. at Parklawn Memorial Park.
