| About Me | After losing my grandmother, I focused on auto mechanics, managing a number of stations during my working life. I also owned and operated a cleaning business from 1988 to 1995. I worked 60 to 90 hours a week during my working life. In essence, I worked myself into disability. DON'T be like me. It ISN'T worth it. My body's musculoskeletal system is slowly breaking down, and I live with chronic, intractable pain. When I realised in 1996 that I truly wasn't able to work, I attempted suicide five times. Work was my life. Don't make it yours. After a failed attempt at studying accounting (due to steady health decline), I am attempting to write. I was published back in 1976-1977, and trying to ride that horse again. Despite having cognitive deficits and a loss of 22 IQ points, my IQ is still "too high" for anyone to agree to treat me. I have considered joining MENSA (which I loathe...the ones I met were self-absorbed, conceited, and elitist, Some even confided in me that euthanasia of the less intelligent would be a "kind thing" to do.). I KNOW they would help me, but it's like selling my soul. I have also considered joining TOAT (The One in A Thousand) group for help, but after my experience with MENSA, I'm leery of any so-called "high IQ" group. What they have in "intelligence" they generally lack in empathy.
