About Me Formerly, I went by Tri Duy A-Tran, since Elementary school to High School; now, because of ease of identification, I go by Tri Duy Atran. However, I am not related to the Atran in Europe; nevertheless, I am of the A and the Tran from Vietnam, thus, I am an Atran in America. I came to the United States of America in 1980. I went to public schools both in Richmond and Chesterfield Virginia, repsectively. After my parents' divorce, I moved to Hopewell Virginia. In Hopewell, I live with my current family: Mom, Grandmother, and my sister's family. Collegiately, Right after graduating from VCU in 2004, I spent some time at Kent State University in 2005 Fall, then returned to VCU shortly after which I applied to the Master's Program in Applied and Pure Mathematics. Now, I am attending Virginia Commonwealth University as a special student or a graduate student as I am deciding on furthering my education in Mathematics and then its applications to the Sciences. Professionally, my Pure and Applied Mathematical interests include: Mathematical Physics, Physical Chemistry, and Pure Matheamtics applied to Economics. Currenly, I am working on possibly entering into Acturial Sciences. Like many people my age, 37, we are still undecided as to our professional life specifice in Mathematic s since it is a wide and diversified Interest. Basically, I am undecided within Mathematics. In particular, within Mathematics, I have had an idea or two: Fractals and NonStandard Analysis in conjunction applied to Econometrics. I am researching such entities if there is any out there that are helped by this perspective especially in Mathematical Economics of Financial Theory. Morever, I am more geared towards Discrete Mathematics and Mathematical Logic for Computation Theory. If you want to follow me in reading and research, then check out books by Kleene, Church, and Curry on "mathematical logic". Mathematical Logic or Symbolic Logic is fascinating in that Mathematical Methods are used in the analysis of Logic. Since Logic is a method at arriving and communicating "truth" it then has heuristic and intrinsic value in Mathematics in general; but in concrete means, it is for the theoretical Computer Science enthusiasts that I speak in reference to my interests and motivation for its research value. As a note, the Fractal and NonStanstard Analysis vierw has been taken up by others since the early 1980's in publications so I have found, but its useful applications are yet undecided. Next, Mathematical Logic for me is something new recently to me for the past few years. I have not formulated a perspective on it yet. I am only beginning my research possibly for tha Master's Thesis in Pure Mathematics. Thus, I have stated my approach to mathematics in what I have found by self-study and my tendency of investigation on these lines: from the out there exotic to the most mainstream abstract. It has been about my work, but within my personal life, my father has suffered a stroke in August of 2009. He is rehabilitating well. His stroke ocurred during a heart operation. He lives with my extended family: stepmother and stepsister. Both are from his second marriage. He is retired. He was an amateur Body Builder. Next to my father is my biological Mother, who is also retired. She is healthy. She enjoys Gardening, taken to it very well seriously so! My grandmother, is blessed to be of old age and is healthy after having surgery for Colon Cancer and Heart Disease. She is 85 this year. My biological sister is married with no children yet. We are all in want of a child for her! My brother-in-law is a skilled in craftmanship wtih furniture and other furnishings around the house. My stepmother is still working at an Assited Living Retirement Facility. She is busy taking care of my Father daily. The youngest is my stepsister, who is about to go off to College. She wants to become a Veternarian. She has so many talents and affection for animal pets! In summary, as for me, I am still single. Finding that right woman would mean a change in my life. It is calm in my life now. I am studying for my career as I have not a female love interest now. Always, eager to meet someone new. It has been a challenge to introduce myself to new people in my life. I have not many close friends but for those that are they are for keepers and are life long friends for sure. In abstract, I have many friends, yet friendship is by chance made by chemistry. My friends are of classmates, professors, and others outside of family and relatives. I have many friends due to time and space have lost touch with that is why I am creating this Facebook to touch again in someway with those that are willing to be...(read more)
