Joan was a twin sister to June Williams Moline. She and her daughter, Robyn Maly, were killed in a car accident. Robyn was a Junior at Mead and member of the Class of 1997 at the time of her death. Scholarships were established in their memories. The scholarships for Mead students began with the Class of 1996 and are still ungoing today.

Both are greatly missed.
