Dickie graduated from McLoud High School in 1969. He received his bachelor’s degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he played baseball. He received his master’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Dickie taught and coached at McLoud, Tipton, Wellston, McLoud again, Geary, Chandler and Depew. Dickie had a passion for coaching; especially football, and was a caring person and mentor to many students that he taught and coached for 38 years.
