Douglas Brent Gilbert, age 71, of Clovis, California passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023.
Douglas is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janet Gilbert; his son Jordan Gilbert; his daughters Danielle Pio (Gustavo); and Leah Gilbert; his brothers Dennis Gilbert, William Gilbert (Marrianne) and Richard Gilbert (Loni). Douglas also leaves behind 2 grandchildren.
Some of Douglas' favorite pastimes include tending to his flower and vegetable gardens, kayaking and camping in the mountains surrounding the central valley.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Douglas' memory may be made to Hinds Hospice, 2490 W. Shaw Ave, Fresno, CA 93711.

Clovis, California - Douglas Brent Gilbert, a beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all, peacefully transitioned to the embrace of the divine on September 8, 2023, at the age of 71. His life was a vibrant tapestry of creativity, faith, joy, and connection with the world and those around him.
Doug was born in Seattle, Washington on January 17, 1952. He was the last-born son of William Ralph Gilbert and Patricia Ann Gilbert and the youngest of four brothers (Dennis, Bill, and Richard).
The bonds of family and brotherhood were a source of strength and connection throughout his life, the architecture of his identity.
Doug grew up in Fresno, California, and graduated from McLane High School in 1970.
Even then, his circle of friends was as vast and diverse as it ever was, a testament to his welcoming spirit and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He was a true friend, always ready to extend a warm welcome and a helping hand.
Doug had a long and meaningful 42-year marriage to Janet Gilbert and was a father of three. He passed on his true grit, love of dogs and nature, and zest for life, teaching his children to embrace the beauty of the world and cherish the simple joys it offers.
Doug was an accomplished concrete mason and landscape artist. His skillful hands brought beauty and functionality to countless spaces, leaving a mark of his craftsmanship for generations to come.
He leaves behind a more beautiful world, both in its landscapes and in the kindness he spread. His legacy will continue to inspire us to create, connect, and cherish the beauty of life.
