About | Deborah Joann Nowlin, age 56, passed away on Dec. 14, 2008 while surrounded by family and friends at her home in Yreka. Debbie was born in Dos Palos, Calif. on July 6, 1952. Debbie grew up in the central San Joaquin Valley and graduated from McLane High School in Fresno , Calif. Her husband John was the love of her life for 33 years. They moved to Siskiyou County in 1975. Debbie worked at Raley's grocery store since its opening here in Yreka, where she developed many friendships with co-workers and customers. She loved to travel, make quilts, bake and decorate wedding cakes, all kinds of arts and crafts, and serve her family in ways too many to describe. She loved going to the sand dunes on the coast of Oregon where she rode quads with family and friends. She even drove a race car at the local speedway. Debbie was preceded in death by both of her parents, Mars Abner "Tate" and Wanda Marie Hunt, as well as her older brother, Charles "Chuck" Mainord and sister, Carol Sue Hunt. She is survived by her husband, John Nowlin of Yreka and three children, Johnny Nowlin, Charlotte Alcoran and Rhonda Carl. Also, she is survived by her brother, James Mainord and two sisters, Cheryl Bolender and Marsha Cox, from Yreka. In life, Debbie was loved enormously by six grandchildren, seven nephews, six nieces, 12 great-nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends and extended family. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Deborah was baptized on April 15, 2006 as a dedicated servant of Jehovah. Memorial services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, 1414 Yreka Ager Rd. at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008. Services will be officiated by Brother Dick Whitehead with a reception to follow at the Yreka Community Center, 810 N. Oregon St. in Yreka. |
