He is survived by his wife Darlene also a McGraw Alumni and 2 sons. One of Gary's great loves was shooting rifle. He was a member of the MCS Rifle Club for 4 years, on the rifle team for 3 years and later became a life member of the Solon Sprotsman Club. He would shoot skeet and trap with shells he loaded whenever he could. After high school Gary worked for Bill Mott, Agway and retired from Monarch. Gary was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed one. He was the first of this small class of 28 students to leave this world and enter into a world of no more pain or illness. We all miss him. |

Gary was a great friend growing up in McGraw. I spent much time at his house because we had a huge tree hut on the hill in back of his house. We hunted together, worked on the tree hut, slept overnight up on the hill looking at stars and eating potato chips and laughing. I also cleaned their Goat barn.
True story memory about Gary, Steve Horner (my very best friend) and me. Gary just bought a 1958 Chevy, I believe it was in the spring when the air was brisk and you could see your breath. Montgomery Wards was in full swing at the time at the base of Court Street, now the Bru.
Gary was behind the wheel and Steve and I got out and pretended we were pushing the car up the hill. Gary was creeping ahead slowly and we were now about 20 foot up the hill with our backs to his trunk pushing and you could see the exhaust from the car running.
A Taxi Cab pulled up behind us and blew his horn and yelled at us. We told him the car wouldn't run. Said to jump in the car and he'd push Gary up the hill. We lined up the bumpers and jumped in the car. He started pushing us and Gary floored it and up the hill we went. The cab driver was so shocked as we flew up the hill. Hahaha He actually thought we were pushing the car up the hill. God Bless him for offering to help and hope he has forgiven us when we meet in Heaven one day. I'm sure he's already discussed it with Gary.
