About Charles Dennison Johnson
November 17, 1959-September 15 , 2006

Charles Dennison Johnson (known to most as Kippy) was born November 17, 1959, the second son to Arthur and Dorothy Johnson. His father, Arthur Johnson, Sr., preceded him in death.

Charles was educated in the Ferguson-Florissant School District where he was well known for his love of sports. He was an avid baseball and football player, which led him to Southwest Missouri State University where he continued to play football. Kippy later pursued a professional football career and played several years in Wisconsin for the Racine Gladiators, a member of the MPFA. He later continued his football career in Canada.

In 1989, Charles married Jacqueline James and to this marriage two sons were born. He also has a daughter.

Charles was employed as the Recreational Director for the Missouri State Department of Corrections in Pacific, Missouri and Hogan Street Juvenile Correctional Facility. Employed in several other capacities, he continued to have a burning desire to pursue opportunities for all children who wanted to participate in sports. In response to this desire, Charles founded “All ’n One Events”, a non-profit sports events planning organization.

Under the umbrella of All ‘n One Events, Kippy developed the Mid-West Junior Football Classic Tournament. This event drew youth from across the United States and Canada. Kippy’s message to these youth was not to focus on winning the tournament, but on having a great time, conducting good sportsmanship, and contributing to one’s community. The largest trophy for this tournament was always awarded to the football team that collected the largest number of blankets and canned goods for charity. These items were then donated to charitable organizations including the New Life Evangelistic Center and dialysis centers across the St. Louis area, just to name a few.

Charles was a board member on the St. Louis Sports Commission and a former member of the board of the Berkeley Falcons.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory three children, Jarryd Johnson, Shanay Barnes-Johnson, and Jeremy Johnson; his mother Dorothy Johnson, one brother Arthur Johnson, Jr. (Toni); three sisters, Eleanor Pillars, Wilatrel Rice (David), and Sandra Anderson; six aunts, three uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He also leaves a surrogate sister and brother, Rose Mary Cooley and Harry Brown, and a very special friend, Felicia Nelson.
