About Me	Jilda, and I were married in December 1975. Jilda retired from the University of Texas in February 2008 after 37 years. We have one wonderful daughter, Sarah, a great son-in-law, Will, and two beautiful, exceptionally bright, and kind granddaughters, Zoe (born in 2000) and Ava (born in 2003). Our indoor pets include two rescue dogs and one cat. After high school, I served in the USAF for four years as a weapons system specialist, including one year in Vietnam. I received an honorable discharge in 1972 and returned to Austin. I attended college for two years at Southwest Texas State and the University of Texas at Austin before joining IBM as an assembler in 1974. While working at IBM, I enrolled in technical classes and worked as a drafter, mechanical designer, lab specialist, and pre-professional engineer before deciding on a business degree and began business classes. I transferred from an engineering area to General Accounting in 1985 where I managed the cash accounts, including payroll, cash receipts, and accounts payable. When IBM merged divisions in 1987, I was offered a chance to take a twelve week, eight-hour-a-day course in technical writing. I completed the course and began working as a technical writer and resource planner. I completed a BBA in Finance in 1991 while working at IBM. I worked as a hardware and software writer and resource planner until I moved to Software Operations in 2003. I returned to a technical writing area in 2006 where I was a software writer and resource planner until I retired from IBM on September 30, 2010 with 36 years of service.
